NISO Awards


CLG Developments Ltd. - one of Ireland′s leading building, civil engineering and utilities contractors - was the winner of the Construction (Industrial / Commercial) Award at the NISO / NISG Safety Awards presentation in Athlone on 1st October 2010.

Over the last 30 years, CLG Developments Ltd. has established a strong reputation in the construction industry and prides itself on maintaining all health, safety, environmental and quality aspects to the highest standard of excellence on all of its projects.

The company has established clear values, with an ethos dedicated to the efficient management of health, safety, environment and quality assurance, in addition to a strong commitment to exceeding client expectations.

This dedication, which extends past statutory and regulatory requirements to include staff wellness schemes such as occupational health screening and the company′s participation in the Global Corporate (Health) Challenge, was recently recognised by NISO and the Northern Ireland Safety Group. CLG was awarded the overall Construction Industrial / Commercial Award for 2010.





CLG Developments Ltd. operated three stand-alone systems up to May 2010 and then made an application to the NQA, our certification body to implement an Integrated Management System (i.e. one management system combining the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001). The application was approved and was successfully audited in August 2010. CLG Development′s Integrated Management System (IMS) is a management system that integrates all of our business divisions into one coherent system to enable the optimal achievement of our business objectives. We further manage the continual improvement of the system as well as the quality of service towards our clients.

The fundamental components of the system includes our organisation′s, resources and processes. Therefore, our people, equipment and business culture are part of the system as much as our documented policies and procedures.


Jerry Martin, CLG′s operations manager, explained: ″This award recognises the ongoing commitment of CLG through all levels of staff and throughout our business operations, to ensure that the highest standards of HSEQ performance are achieved at all times.″

He added that the company is not content to sit back and enjoy this success. Since 2010 CLG has successfully implemented an integrated management system covering all aspects of health, safety, environment and quality, all of which it had achieved previously as stand-alone systems.




CLG Developments Ltd. recently engaged the services of the Construction Workers Health Trust to undertake Health Screening for all of our employees. There was an excellent response to the opportunity by our employees who received full health screening and advice.

The Construction Workers Health Trust, was founded in 1994 by the Construction Group of unions affiliated to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

The Trust is dedicated solely to the promotion of better health and lifestyles among construction workers.

The following screening was carried out at our Head Office where the CWHT Mobile unit was present for two weeks:

     • Blood pressure test

     • Cholesterol test

     • Blood sugar test

     • Lung function test

     • Smoker Lyser (Smokers only)

     • Height, Weight, and calculate body mass index

     • Cancer awareness information

     • Heart health advice

     • Dietary advice

     • Lifestyle advice




The Global Corporate Challenge ® (GCC)

CLG Developments Ltd. recently entered three teams in the Global Corporate Health Challenge in conjunction with our joint venture partner Balfour Beatty in order to promote good health and also to further encourage team morale and healthy competitiveness within the organisation.

Department of Education and Science


Scoil Bhríde Primary School, Kill, Co. Kildare commenced on site in April 2010.
The project consists of the construction of a 960 pupil 30 classroom primary school building over two storeys and part three storeys. The development also consists of a new entrance, boundary fencing, access roads, play areas and car parking facilities. The contract is expected to be completed by the end of March 2011.


Fairview Sports Facility, Dublin City


Works are currently progressing on the construction of the Fairview Sports Facility in Fairview Park, Dublin with project completion due by the end of February 2011. This project, being completed for Dublin City Council, will greatly enhance the Park's facilities through the provision of eight changing rooms, shower facilities, meeting & locker rooms and the thoughtfully designed site works that will naturally incorporate the whole development into the existing surrounds.
